Soft cover. Condition: Acceptable. This is the 1954 21st Edition of "Profitable Poultry Management", written by Clarence E. Lee, Olin A. Rowoth, and Robert E. Miller. The book, which was important within the poultry industry, was published by The Beacon Milling Company in Cayuga, New York. Even though this book is more than half a century old, it provides a very good look at the state of serious poultry farm management, as well as an exposition on the state of laboratory science for poultry as it was in 1954 . Increasing the yield of chicken farms is covered. There is, as well, a considerable amount of material dealing with poultry diseases, and methods used at that time for treating sick chickens and battling against parasites that attacked and depleted flocks and their productivity. Lots of black and white photographs, line drawings and charts. There are some excellent photographs, including one aerial shot, of Beacon Milling production buildings. It is all quite fascinating - if you are a chicken farmer or fancier. The years have passed and things are quite different now, but how much of the information in this book is still valid? A good deal I would warrant, because chickens are still chickens.
