A Royal Copenhagen porcelain `bird` lamp base from the BACA faience series, designed by Nils Thorsson in the 1960s. This lamp base is the taller version, sitting at about 30cm /12 inches high, not including the light fixture. This incredibly lovely, block-shaped lamp base is decorated with a repeated design of birds and flowers, in colours of brown and beige and a hint of gold. The lamp base is stamped on the underside with the Royal Copenhagen `three waves` hallmark, Thorsson's mark, the painter's mark and the product number, 719 over 1599. Swedish born Nils Thorsson (1898-1975) was one of Royal Copenhagen`s most successful designers. He became the company`s artistic director in 1949.

❖Dimensions:
Company: Royal Copenhagen
Form: Lamp Base
Height: 30cm, 50cm with lamp kit
Length: 10cm
Width: 10cm
Weight: 1260g

❖Condition: The lamp base in excellent condition, with no cracks or chips or damage. The fittings are in working order. Please note this lamp base uses a European two-prong plug. On the top of the bulb fittings sits a plastic plate, presumably to shield the bulb from dust. There is a hole in the centre, possibly from a light bulb that would have been too strong or too close to the plastic plate.
Please note that I use strong lighting to help highlight the maximum amount of detail of each piece. As each piece is bathed in such strong lighting conditions, the on-screen effect will possibly make the item appear lighter in colour and tone. Your piece may look slightly darker in more natural lighting conditions.
