Description:
Oil on canvas. Signed with the artists monogram to the lower left: K.S.  The oil dates back to the early 20th century ( 1900-1910)  This particular oil is an rare exhibition work. It is labelled on the back with a catalogue number 82. And label of provenance from former owner (Carl Stenders Kunstforlag) A Danish publishing company founded in 1888 by Carl Stender (1862-1902) The company included art and card publishing houses and Carl Stender was a known collector of arts. The oil is also inscribed in pencil on the back ( Marianne) Most likely the name of the young girl portrayed in the oil and most likely the artists daughter. 

Outstanding early impressionist oil with Knud Sinding private residence, seen with his own paintings on the wall. A young blond girl is seen playing near the door and has left her toy train on the floor.  The male portrait painting seen to the left of the mahogany bureau can be seen in a later painting by Knud Sinding from 1924 titled: The artists home.  ( see photo) 

A very rare painting and of outstanding quality. The oil is framed in its authentic early 20th century golden salon frame. A certificate of authenticity will be included with this work.



Condition:
Ready to hang. In excellent condition. The oil could use a light cleaning, due to the old age. Otherwise fine with no holes, tears or missing paint. The original salon frame has minor scratches due to the age.



Knud Sinding (1875-1946)
Knud Sinding was educated at the Royal art academy in 1902 and was a pupil of the master painter Zahrtmann at the art school of Zarthmann from 1895-97. Sinding is known for his great impressive colors and is known for his sunlit landscapes from Italy and the powerful open landscapes from Jutland, Denmark. Sindings amazing colors and fat brush strokes was not popular in the beginning and Sinding was refused several times at the Royal art academy before the professors finally realized his brilliance. Today his works is considered highly sought after and is in high demand. Sinding has travelled in Germany and numerous times in Italy in cities like Firenze, Verona and Venezia. Exhibitions: Charlottenborg: 1898-1947 – The artists fall collection: 1907-13. – Glaspalast, Munchen, Germany: 1909. – The pupils of Zarthmann, Ovenlyssal: 1926. – The artists union of 18th Nov: 1942-45. -The union of national art: 1950.
