Martial Redon Limoges Hand Painted Yellow Floral Peach & Gold Chocolate Pot Circa 1891-1896
Beautiful
relief molded porcelain chocolate pot. Nicely decorated with large hand
painted flowers in yellow and reddish brown with green centers and
clouded gold gilding around the edge of the petals. I believe these may
be yellow hibiscus or fringed loosestrife flowers, but I am not a flower
expert. The background of the pot is peach at the top and yellow at the
bottom, with the lid being yellow with peach at the center. With gold
gilt highlights to the relief molding and clouded gilding to the handle,
finial, spout, and around the rim. Marked on the bottom MR France in
green. This mark was used by Martial Redon in Limoges France between
1891 to 1896.
Has some wear to the gilding consistent with age, but otherwise good condition with no chips or cracks.
Measures approximately 6 3/8 inches wide from spout to handle x 9 3/8 inches tall.
This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece.
