This is a nice Vietnam War M1 steel helmet with Mitchell camouflage cover that remains in very good, battle worn condition. The shell is without dents and has both dark green chinstraps fastened at the rear with the T1 fasteners at the ends. These straps are sewn at the bales rather than clipped on. The cover is faded and worn from exposure to the sun and monsoons. It is marked, ‘‘COVER HELMET CAMOUFLAGE, CONTRACT NO. 9196, DIR OF MFG.’ dating it to mid-1965. The liner is a Vietnam War type with dark green cross-over webbing in the dome. The sweatband is marked, ‘HEAD BAND LINER HELMET, DSA 100 – 1399’ dating it to late 1962. This is an excellent example that remains in fine, combat worn condition.
