This is an extremely fine First World War 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class in excellent condition. The magnetic iron center has a nice, original, unblemished stove black finish. The crown, monogram ‘W’, and 1914 date are all sharp and well-defined on the obverse as well as the crown, letters ‘FW’, oak leaves, and 1813 date on the reverse. The silver frame is now with an attractive, dark, age toned patina. The jumper ring is marked ‘EW’ for an unknown maker. The cross is accompanied by a folded 18½ inch piece of original ribbon that does not fluoresce under UV light. It remains an attractive example in excellent, undamaged condition.
