vintage BLUE 8" RAGSY Rose O'Neill KEWPIE vinyl squeak doll CAMEO orig tag

Charming sweet faced doll is based on the Kewpie character created by Rose O'Neill early last century. The popular Kewpie character was translated into dolls by Joseph Kallus of Cameo Dolls in 1963. This all vinyl Kewpie character is called "Ragsy". Ragsy wears a blue hooded suit.

Doll has little "wings" on its back like an early Kewpie. Doll's head swivels but arms and legs are frozen. Doll has a squeaker inside.

Marked on the back of doll's head: "CAMEO 63 JK" (Joseph Kallus).

Paper tag has a sweet message inside; "The Kewpies gave a hugsome Kewpie doll To Ragsy, the peach of the town; And they did not part, but heart to heart Were Ritzy and Ragsy Brown."  From "The Kewpies and Ragsy and Ritzie" PAPER DOLL BOOK BY ROSE O'NEILL.

On the back of the card it states "Cameo Doll Products Strombecker Corp., Chicago, ILL. Made in U.S.A."

Doll is in clean, unplayed-with condition. There is a faint blush of pink on the right side of the doll's forehead. Painted details are intact. There are some random dark smudges on his body. Original paper ID tag still attached but bent. Squeaker works. From a smoke free home. Please inspect photos.

Doll is 8" tall.
