I bought this unit brand new a few years ago and it has been used (sparingly) as a Time Machine periodically to transfer data to a from my new Mac Pro units. Definitely turned off and sitting on my desk most of the time. The current configuration is 4x3TB raid 5 Data Drive and 2x3TB raid 1 Time Machine.
