• The dolls have been given distinct characters. Most of the female dolls, says Segal, are femmes fatales. "They represent a lot of women I've known over the years," Segal says. The dolls tend to attract people like themselves. "Women recognize themselves in the dolls," says Segal, who admits to a fondness for shopping. The whimsical bios are created by committee. "We write them with friends," Segal explains. "They come over to dinner, we have some wine and write them. We laugh a lot. The wine helps." "Well, they are toys of a sort," Segal says. "They're toys for adults."
