This antique Victorian hat pin is a beautiful piece made of black blown glass. With an approximate overall length of length of 8 and 3/4 inches, the origin of its manufacture is unknown, adding to its mysterious charm. The hat pin is a possible mourning item due to its dark and somber appearance. Its intricate design is a testament to the high level of craftsmanship during the Victorian era, I believe the fancy base mounting is brass, as a magnet does not stick to it.
