This pre-owned, vintage ash shovel has been painted dark brown and given a floral design that looks like it was then covered with a clear lacquer finish.  Looks really nice!

 It has been soldered or welded in the past at the bottom of the handle – it is very solid with no rust or holes. 

I estimate it was new circa 1935 and painted about 20 years ago. 

Still very useful and decorative!
