The conditions of the work are good. However, there is a slight yellowing of the cardboard due to age, which does not affect the quality and beauty of the work.
A light shadow is visible at the top center and bottom center due to residues of tape that were attached to the back of the woodcut, perhaps due to a previous positioning of the same on a passepartout or frame (as per the last two attached photos).

The work is sold without frame.

Appropriate packaging will be made and sent via courier with tracking.

Virgil comforts Dante is a woodcut created in 1963 for a series illustrating the medieval poem of the "Divine Comedy" by Dante Alighieri.
Dalì was invited by the Italian government to commemorate the birth of Dante Alighieri, Italy's most famous poet, by creating a series of illustrations for a full-text Deluxe edition of Dante's masterpiece, the "Divine Comedy". However, in 1958 a new government was elected in Italy, which opposed the idea of entrusting the illustration of the "Divine Comedy" to a foreign artist. As a result, Dalí decided to offer the project to the French publisher Joseph Forêt and the publication was completed on November 23, 1963. Dalí painted 100 watercolors in preparation for the publication of the "Divine Comedy". These watercolors explore the many myths and elements of the magnificent literary work of the great Dante Alighieri. These drawings were then reproduced with the wood engraving technique and an Italian edition was subsequently created, using the same wooden blocks.
