ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR


Gilbert James (1865 - 1941) was one of the earliest and most prolific of the artists to take up the challenge of providing illustrations for Fitzgerald’s verses and his work was reprinted many times in different forms throughout the 20th century.


CONDITION: In VERY GOOD condition. A little spine lean, firm hinges and joints. Rubbing to covers, spine and edges. A few spots of soiling on rear board. Corners bumped. Top cover presents beautifully. Pen writing on front pastedown. Heavy offsetting/darkening to the endpapers from previously laid in newspaper clippings. Pages age-toned. A few tissue guard tears and creases. A few pages with fold creases.
