This is an antique carefully handmade miniature doll's trunk. I suspect it's a one of a kind piece made for a child. It's made of thin cardboard covered on the outside with black paper embossed to look like leather and on the inside with a blue star print lining paper. The  corners, handle and clasp are bits of real leather, and the clasp, hinges on the back and strap on the top are secured with brass paper fasteners. The eye hook which fits through the leather clasp is screwed through a small piece of wood on the inside of the trunk. The wood is also attached with 2 small nails There's some writing in pen on the inside top, perhaps a name, but I can't make it out.  The trunk measures 4 by 2 by 1 1/2 inches high. It looks great, but there's some wear on the back paper, especially along the edges and some wear on the lining of the top where it covers the fasteners holding the handle. The fasteners holding the hinges protrude a bit on the back and hold the top open a bit unevenly. Perfect accessory for an old doll!
