This is an early DCM Chair, originally designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1946. The piece was produced by Herman Miller and retains its tag under the seat. This example was produced circa 1955, deciphered by the presence of its original boot slides and label. The design features a bent-plywood seat and back with a Calico Ash veneer face, and tubular chromed-steel legs.
The DCM chair measures 17.5 inches deep, 19.5 inches wide, and 29.5 inches high. It has a seat height of 18 inches. We have intentionally left this piece in its patinated condition. The chromed-steel frame shows signs of age that can likely be polished out if so desired, and the shock mounts have some small superficial cracks. The Ash veneer is in terrific condition with no loss at edges or corners. Overall, this DCM chair is in good condition with some signs of age. Please see photos.
