Presented is a beautiful vintage Chinese cloisonne silver pendant in the form of a bird. This listing is for ONE pendant, but we have multiple pendants in a few different designs, all “new old stock” acquired as part of the unsold inventory of an importer of fine goods operating in the 1970s. These are vintage pieces that are no longer made today, and of a significantly higher quality and craftsmanship than mass produced cloisonne enamel jewelry widely available for sale online. These bird pendants are exceptionally colorful, done in several different colors of enamel so the details really pop. The enamel is done on sterling silver with a gold wash, where a lot of modern reproductions are done in silverplate or base metal. These are hand enameled pieces, so there are some natural variations in how the enamel is applied and how the colors look. We're not sure if these are a real type of bird or just a stylized one, it may be a kingfisher, a bee eater, a hummingbird, or just some sort of songbird, but whatever the case it's very dynamic and eye-catching, rendered in a full 3 dimensional style, not flat. These pendants are all sterling silver, nitric acid tested and guaranteed, with a mark of 'SILVER' on the bail.
Each of these pendants is in excellent condition. They have never been worn. There may be occasional spots where the enamel skipped or did not fill in completely, but these are original to the making of the pieces.
The pendant hangs about 5/8 of an inch including the bail, and measures about 1 1/4 inches from beak to tail.
Each pendant weighs approximately 4-4.5 grams.
