We are offering an ALB -- Alcock, Lindley, and Bloore, Brown Betty Teapot.  Made in England, item has a backstamp.  It is a rich chestnut brown color in very good vintage condition: no cracks, no crazing, one small chip underneath downward facing spout.  You will find a few marks: one, along the top rim and one scratch in the glaze from the factory, which is near the bottom of the tea pot, and a few light surface scratches from being used and loved.  Please review pictures as they depict exact item for sale.  This Brown Betty is made of high-quality ceramic, it is round in shape with a portly body, made of red clay.  Size: capacity is 3+ cups, 6" tall with lid, and 4 1/2" tall without lid x 8 1/2" from outside of handle to outside of spout x 5" across the "belly" of the teapot x 3 1/4" base.  The style of the teapot was designed to hold heat well.  Brown Betty is the choice for many tea lovers: they say it is the best looking, well-made, and makes a great cup of tea. This is the teapot all you Downton Abbey fans have seen on the show.   A great decorative piece and of course, use as originally intended.
