Pair of Marcolini Meissen Hand Painted Bisque Male & Female Figurines Circa 1774-1814

Pair of Marcolini period Meissen hand painted bisque porcelain figurines. The bodice on the girl is glazed and painted green with gold highlights and laces. She has a purple ribbon in her hair and a purple bow below the back of her bodice. She has purple, blue and yellow encrusted flowers in her apron and a rake in her right hand. There is a purple encrusted flower on the base near the rake. The male figured has a glazed and painted green hat with a pink ribbon and flower, with gold gilding along the edge. His jacket is trimmed in gold and he has a basket full of fruit. With gold highlights to both bases. The girl has an incised crossed swords mark. The boy has an incised crossed sword mark in a triangle. This mark was used on bisque porcelain between 1774 to 1814. Both figures have a number 4 incised on the base.

The female figure is missing the top half of her rake and a piece is broken off the bottom of the rake. A small part of the bow on her back is also broken off. Part of the male figures bow on the back of his hat is broken off and there are two small white spots where the bows were attached. His right fingers, left thumb, and the handles of the basket are broken off. It looks like he also had purple bows at his knees and two flowers on the base that have been broken off.

The girl measures approximately 2 1/8 inches wide x 5 1/8 inches tall.
The boy measures approximately 2 1/4 inches wide x 5 1/8 inches tall.

These are antiques and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the pieces.
