Up for sale is a beautiful, vintage 144-piece two-tone green and butterscotch Catalin Mah Jongg set with 8 flowers and no jokers. It includes 5 solid green racks, an assortment of coins, 2 red dice, and a faux alligator skin case. There are 16 spare tiles, which include 2 set-matching two-tone green and butterscotch blanks, 8 solid butterscotch (catalin or bakelite) tiles, and six bone and bamboo dovetails.

Tile measurements
Height: about 1.375"
Width: 0.8125"
Thickness: about 0.5"

Date: based on the aging of Catalin pieces, and the fact that the set includes eight flowers, but no jokers, this set was roughly made between 1937 and 1942. The Catalin end of the racks are marked "2413 U.S.PAT.OFF. 113542" with the area by the coin holders marked "PAT PENDING."  NOTE: I have dated this to the best of my abilities, with the aid of sites like Sloperama, though I claim no expertise on Mah Jongg. Please be aware of that when making your decision to bid or purchase.

Condition: the tiles have two light wear marks on the green side. The Catalin has aged fairly uniformly, but there are areas on the butterscotch side that are darker or lighter. Some pieces have minor fading on the carved image. A little bit of dirt on the racks. Faux alligator case handle is missing its skin. See pics for more details.

Pictures: There are four of each tiles, but I displayed them stacked two high, except for the flower tiles.
