Vintage British Ship The Hardy Sailor Purple Lustre Mustache Cup & Saucer

Nice vintage British earthenware purple luster / purple lustre ware mustache cup and saucer. Decorated on one side with a black transfer print depicting a ship and "The hardy sailor braves the Ocean, Fearless of the roaring Wind. Yet his heart, with soft emotion. Throbs to leave his love behind." Mottled pink splash luster background. Unmarked. Probably produced by either Gray's Pottery or Lancaster & Sandland during the mid 20th century.

Has crazing typical of earthenware, and wear and scratches consistent with age and use, but otherwise good condition.

The cup measures approximately 4 3/4 inches wide including the handle x 3 1/4 inches tall.
The saucer measures approximately 6 inches wide.

This is vintage and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece.
