Elegant bookends with an ancient Egyptian theme depicting a lotus, the symbol of rebirth and purity, flanked by sarcophagi.  Designed and signed by M(yra Musselman) Carr.

Cast in solid bronze by Griffoul Foundry of Newark, NJ, their name stamped on the backs.  Griffoul filed the copyrights on the designs of a number of high-end bookends, all with dates from 1912 to 1916; and I found a copyright for a different set designed by Myra Carr dated 1912.  So I am confident in saying circa 1915.

Condition is fine.  One tiny ding on the side of the base of one piece (see last pic); otherwise, no damage of any sort. Finish is original with hints of verdigris to lend age and character.  (Please know the camera flash makes the bronze look a lighter color and the verdigris a brighter green than in natural light).  Both pieces sit flat and stable.

5 inches tall; 5 1/4 inches across; 2 1/2 inches deep.  Combined weight is 7 1/2 pounds.

Perfect gift for the mummy wrapper in your family.
