This item was bought nearly 20 years ago. It was used as a master archive bank and also for recording a few music concerts from the radio.
I have recorded about 60 2 hour DAT tapes over 2/3 years.
My best estimate of usage is somewhere between 200 – 300 hours
over that period. It was then mothballed as I had purchased a dedicated Music
CD Burner.
In those days DAT tapes were not easily available. I bought
mine from London when working there every month on business trips. When these
stopped I turned to using the music CD burner as the discs were cheaper.
Having moved onto burning my own music CDs on a dedicated
burner I then bought the first of several MP3 Walkmans/players so it became
redundant.
I stored it in a hi fi stack in another room and it has never
been used for over 10 years. We are having a down size in that room and that is
why it is in such good condition.
There are hardly any blemishes an the case apart from some small scuff marks on the top.
When I tested it in December 2022 the first few tapes played / rewound perfectly. It then stopped playing despite trying with a few other DAT tapes. All the electronics function. I didn’t make any further attempts of adjustments.
I
have no doubt that anyone with the necessary knowledge and ability could get
this back to full working order very quickly. However to avoid any problems,
including returning the unit at the buyers expense, (Our Seller policy), it is
being sold as ”FOR PARTS ONLY”.
There is an expansive manufacturer’s printed manual supplied
and the remote also works fully. Its terminals are clean and 2 batteries are supplied with it but will be packed separately.
Our reviews of usage and condition are accurate as that is our
policy and this is supported by the large number of our positive buyer reviews.
Any purchase should be approached with the above in mind.
