Robbe ASW19 3.1m wingspan glider / electric glider - kit to build

Vintage semi-scale glider kit - probably 1980s - will build up into a nice soaring glider - with or without electric power. Its a good few years old - from the time of heavy brushed/geared motors & Nicad batteries - but with a modern lightweight brushless motor & light Lipo battery it will be lighter, more powerful & fly great. The wings are balsa covered veneer - the fuselage is plastic - "Plura" ABS type material. Unfortunately the fuselage has gone very brittle with age - I cracked it just cleaning it (photo) - in my opinion it is not usable without reinforcement - it will crack and break on landing. Best would be to cover the whole fuselage in glass cloth & epoxy - inside the nose & wing mounting area too. A lot of work but worth it to make a really nice semi-scale glider - I could do it but too many other plane projects on the go.

Its a kit - you will need to have some building experience to put it together. A previous owner has made a start on the wings. To complete it you will need RC gear & servos, motor & ESC if going powered, and covering film. I've checked it over & all the major parts seem to be there - and the fittings/accessory bags. There are no detailed build plans or instructions, just an overview plan of potential electric power installation. Wing controls are ailerons and airbrakes - one wing already has the airbrakes fitted. The aileron linkages provided are wires in tubes - these days a much better arrangement is servos in the wing - modern slim servos will fit in there - previous owner has made a start on this. The fuselage has a hatch on top for connecting centrally mounted servos - this can also be connected to a servo as a pop-up airbrake - a fun feature but personally I would have wing mounted servos - permanently close the hatch & glass over it. It comes with 2 sets of canopy & canopy tray - one bagged, the original one in the photo is marked.

NOTE - this is a very big box - 1.56m long - which means that it is "oversized" for postal & courier services. Parcelforce quoted £44.20 to ship it - please bear this in mind when bidding. Alternatively you are welcome to come & collect it - from near Honiton in Devon.
