Stunning colorized postcard mailed from Brazil to Friedrichshafen, Germany on the airship Graf Zeppelin, and from there on to Berlin by airmail on the eighth return flight to Europe in October 1933, the second year of regular transatlantic passenger and airmail Zeppelin service. Card bears Brazilian airmail stamps and airmail cancellations of October 5, etiquette for Condor-Zeppelin, unique "Pelo Zeppelin" ink stamp, Friedrichshafen arrival stamp in green dated October 9, German airmail stamp to Berlin and Berlin receiving cancel dated October 10, comprising the fastest means of physical mail delivery of the time. Picture depicts a superimposed image of the Graf Zeppelin over Rio de Janeiro's Praia de Botofogo with the iconic Pao de Asucar "sugar loaf" prominently featured. Card bears no printing house identification, which may mean it was printed and custom colorized by a private area photographer, Graf Zeppelin would continue this first scheduled transatlantic passenger service until withdrawn from service after loss of Hindenburg in 1937. Thank you for looking at this and my other auctions.
