Genuine, authentic, original signed photograph of Kriegsmarine Konteradmiral Rolf Johannesson.

Johannesson was a highly decorated German War Navy destroyer battleship commander during WW2.

Johannesson achieved famed in the Spanish Civil War and was awarded the Spanish Cross in Silver, and later Commanded the destroyer battleships: Steinbrinck and Hermes, the later of which was so successful during the Battle of the English Channel in 1942 that he was awarded the Knights Cross, and later Commander in the Mediterranean Operations of 4th Destroyer Flottila.

Because of his military successes, Johannesson was awarded the German Cross in Gold, the Honour Clasp to the Iron Cross First and Second Class and the Iron Cross First and Second Class.

And because of his extreme personal bravery and successful military leadership in combat, Johannesson was awarded the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross on December 7 1942!  After the War, he was made a Konteradmiral in the Bundesmarine and was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany!

The 3.5 x 5.5 inch oblong glossy black and white photograph shows Johannesson as a Kriegsmarine Admiral wearing his Knights Cross and he has signed his full name signature below his image in blue ballpoint ink pen, postwar, and also on the reverse side, has listed a long description of his military service in the Kriegsmarine and Bundesmarine.  The signed foto is in very good condition.  I purchased this signed foto from the Becker Collection last year. Along with a modern, internet, unsigned print of a Kriegsmarine destroyer.  Total: 2 items
