You're bidding on a cool, folksy vintage small - 15 1/2" X 9 3/4" and 6" deep - wooden packing crate. Front panel advertises the contents as "Ayame Brand Fancy Santa Clara Prunes", packed by Hamlin Packing Co. of San Jose, Santa Clara County, California. Nice stamped graphics including a floral design. Long sides are blank, back side has a numeric mark and the instructions, "Stow Cool Dry Place", and the bottom has what must be some shipping-related stamped info about Boston.

As best as I can determine, the halcyon days of the Hamlin Packing Co. were the 1920s, so crate probably dates circa 1925-1930. Note there is no lid. One long side has some horizontal cracking extending inward from the tacks, and there is some staining and soil typical for age and type - still solid and appealing, though. A nice advertising piece as well as a nice primitive.

Please review photos carefully to make your own determination of overall condition and appeal, and don't hesitate to ask any questions prior to bidding - thanks for looking!
