IMPERIAL B YEAR 1915

Beautiful Imperial "B" typewriter, manufactured in approximately 1915, by Imperial Typewriter Company, in Leicester, England.

The Imperial machine was manufactured in other countries under different names: Typo, Lloyd IV, Rofa, etc.

The main feature of the Imperial is its semicircular keyboard and the decorative metal plate that in turn serves to hide the type bars. The striking system is "Downstrike", the type bars make a movement from top to bottom until they hit the paper, this system being different from conventional machines. This system was already known since the end of the 19th century.

It has a keyboard made up of three rows and a double shift key, with the space bar having a very curious design and a chrome plating. It features the name Imperial B in gold letters at the top of the lid that hides the type bars and on the paper holder. Preserves the wooden base.

The machine is kept in very good aesthetic condition. It works correctly, when you press a key the carriage advances one space, although we have not tested it with paper. It is a beautiful, rare and highly collectible piece, for the best collectors of antique typewriters.
