(PTU) - Is a notorious problem and often requires replacement of the PTU as it’s not a dealer serviceable part. It seems that the problem is caused by a leaking seal between the PTU and the engine crankcase. This causes fluid mixture between the case and the central hydraulic system. The cost of a replacement unit typically costs around £28000 so a repair to your existing unit is a more cost effective solution.
(Tooling)- We have developed all the correct tooling needed to dismantle and rebuild these units back to OE spec.
(Our solution) - Is a full dismantle and inspection of the PTU, striping the unit down to a bare case making it ready for ultrasonic cleaning. Once completed the following parts will be replaced.
• O rings - needle rollers
• Shift folk seals replaced
• Input shaft bearings replaced
• Out put side bearings replaced
• Shift folks seals replaced
Removal of the PTU is required before we can carry out work to it.
