Mid to Late 18th Century cast Iron  Pennsylvania hanging hearth footed griddle American made, central Pennsylvania.

Very early and rare form. 


Pennsylvania found, circa 1750-1770.

This form is an exceptionally rare and seldom seen form.

Very large cooking surface,  15" across. Full 3" legs, round in form, a seldom seen feature on this age of piece. Nice, strong swivel hanger at top. All hand wrought,  down to the 2 square blacksmith made nuts holding the cook plate to the handle.

Nice use shown, and even fire erosion.

An incredibly versatile piece back in its day to hang or use at the hearth over coals.

Very nice formed lip around cooking surface.  Expected wear amd use evident, yet it remains a fully usable piece to this day.

Handle stands 11" above the cooking surface.  14 1/2" from cooking surface to top of hanger. Total height 18".

In 1779, Tannersville was known as "The last town on the frontier"

Weighs a staggering 16 1/4 pounds prior to packaging. Early wide fire eroded gate mark on bottom.
