Description: “Dewey Day” was held on 12 October 1899 in honor of U.S. Navy Admiral George Dewey (26 December 1837 in Montpelier, Vermont– 16 January 1917 in Washington, D.C.). Dewey returned to his home state on 10 October 1899 after he had just completed his national tour in celebration of his victory at the Battle of Manila Bay in the Philippines during the Spanish-American War. Dewey arrived in Montpelier on the night of the 11th, and the next day there was a large parade and various other activities attended by over 40,000 people.     

Capital Electric Co. was a dealer in electric supplies located in Montpelier, Vermont, during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Condition: Several surface scratches, edge wear, little surface wear/nicks, etc. The back photograph mark is very faint. See pictures.
