ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND, by Lewis Carroll, WITH FORTY-TWO  ILLUSTRATIONS BY John Tenniel, undated antiquarian edition (circa 1920), R.CLAy, Son, and Taylor, Printer, Bread Street Hill (London), no copyright page and undated; 7.75 x 5.125-inch linen-clad HB with embossed gold trim and an illustration of Alice and the front, and embossed gold lettering at the top of the spine, two slender gold lines at bottom of spine,pre-title page features printed real name of author Lewis Carroll ("C.L. Dodgson"), short for Charles Lutridge Dodgson), 192 pp. printed on high-quality, very finely grained, white, matte-finished stock which looks great at what is likely just over a century old; near-excellent condition (clean and tightly bound, upper page edges were soft red but have faded some, as has gold lettering at spine, which is still easily legible; boards are still attractive and evenly colored soft red; corners are straight, and pages are bright and unmarked).

This is a charming edition of ALICE and clearly an antiquarian book. Absent a copyright page, I basing age how it looks the only exact match on eBay, which the seller listed as "circa 1920"). I checked American Book Exchange (ABE), a Google-listed rarer book site, and they have very similar hardbacks from different publishers which were issued in the late 1800s. They're very expensive (as in low thousands of dollars). The match on eBay is in notably worse condition with wear at spine and and many faded white circles/spots on the back cover, an odd flaw suggesting contact with some kind of liquid. The blue inside covers and opposing end end papers have heavily toned patches and the front end paper has a large crease at the upper corner and the first few pages. On the upside, the pages are bright like mine, confirming quality paper stock. It's in good condition for $55.20 +$5.62 shipping. My near-excellent copy appears to be a rare find.

My Buy-It-Now price of  $50.00 includes shipping bubble-wrapped in a small priority mail box, which takes 2-3 days with tracking and insurance.
