A very scarce bound volume containing a proclamation and detailed regulations governing all aspects of inland waters navigation issued in 1919 by the British military government of Mesopotamia following its conquest from the Ottoman Empire during the First World War. The proclamation was issued by Major General Sir George Fletcher MacMunn who was the Officiating General Officer Commanding His Britannic Majesty’s Forces In Mesopotamia. The regulations following the prclamation wee issued in 1918 and 1919 and were signed by the military authorities as well as by A. Y. Wilson who was the Acting Civil Commissioner of Mesopotamia.
These documents were all issued during the period before Great Britain was granted Mandatory power by the League of Nations over Mesopotamia and before the country changed its name to the Kingdom of Iraq after Feisal I was named the king.
