c19th Antique Pewter Arts & Crafts Gothic Chandelier Light Fitting Fleurs De Lys & Shield.

This is a fabulous piece of Architectural Lighting dating to circa 1880 and from the nineteenth century.

It is from an Arts and Crafts Studio and is handmade . It is in the Neo Gothic Style .

It holds 3 lights or bulbs . It may have originally been made for candles , it is now converted for electricity .

It has a substantial hanging loop and this section is decorated with a domedpediment and three Fleur De Lys .

This stretches to the main chandelier via three curved branches . The main section has handmade robots and each mid section is decorated with a Heraldic Shield or Coat of Arms .

Each of the shields are quartered . The top left has a Rose , this could represent Yorkshire Lancashire or England . The top right and bottom left quarters feature a set of steps or stairs , and the bottom right is a crucifix or cross .

It is beautifully made and has had no restorationother than a wire and electric fittings have been added at some stage .

This would look perfect in a period country house or in an Arts and Crafts building , equally this would look fabulous in anywhere that is creating the Gothic look .This came out of a stately home in Yorkshire .

The entire piece measures 19 inches wide and 13 inches high . This can obviously be hung to choose the height of the drop that you want .

The Pewter has an untouched patina , you may wish to have this restored butmany people like such pieces in untouched condition . it would look fabulous with three candle shaped bulbs . There is no need to use shadeswith this ceiling light .

I havent been able to find who the maker or designer was , but I would be surprised if this is anything other than a top designer .

It is probably British in Origin but it could be French .

A superb piece of Period lighting and a great piece for an interior decorator .

This is one of the best Architectural pieces of Lighting I have seen in a long time .

Good Luck.
