Offered here is an Archimede SEGUSO Mid Century Glass Carafe , that was made by this master Glassblower for SALVIATI .

This is a stunning piece of Italian Murano Art Glass and dates to between 1940 and 1947 .

The carafe is in a Jug form with a twisted ribbed body and foot . It has a sinuous shape and the main body is a turquoise blue , the handle is clear with a gold fleck incorporated into the glass , the foot also has a gold fleck incorporated into the swirls , this may have some wear .

It is in very good condition with no chips or cracks . The pontil is finished off on the underside , this has a small area of loss where it has been broken off, this was done during the making of the piece . There is a gold fleck on the foot , I can’t decide if this is incorporated into the glass or applied later , it is thinly applied so may be worn or may have been produced like this . The knop at the base of the handle is uneven to the touch, I am unsure if this is where a pontil has been removed or if this is the spider mark that you find on some Murano pieces . If anyone has any more information , could you please let me know .

The entire piece stands 14.75 inches high .

I can only find one other of these on the internet , that one is offered for £1476 , this is offered with a start of less than half that amount.

Good Luck .
