1/6 daguerreotype of a woman, ID'd with a period note as Mrs (D.L.?) Sturtevant. Mat is stamped, "WHIPPLE'S PATENT" in the bottom corners of the mat. Dag comes in full, push-button, pebbled leather case that has light leather wear but which is complete and perfectly functional.

The dag still has its original intact paper seals, and besides light tarnish and some spots stuck to the underside of the glass, appears to be in excellent condition. Under magnification I do not see any scratches, swipes, abrasions, mold spiders or corrosion.

A rare crayon portrait daguerreotype of an identified sitter, taken by John A. Whipple of Boston.
