Another premium powder horn from an elderly gentleman's private collection.

This horn unusually plump for a small horn measuring  7" long with nearly a full quarter twist. The color is a beautiful deep olive brown. It is traditionally carved with an eight paneled spout and scraped thin to see the powder level inside. A faint scribed circle is evident on the outer curve of the horn.

The endcap is flat, made of spruce with original patina. It is attached to the horn body with small iron nails. It is oval and measures
2-1/4" X 1-5/8". There are the remains of a small staple in the center of the cap.

A fine example of an early horn.
