Here is a Mamiya ENLAHEAD with a 25mm f3.5 enlarging lens, a condenser, and negative carrier -- in GREAT condition -- in the box with instructions.

Designed for its many subminiature cameras, Mamiya made FIVE versions of the ENLAHEAD.  This is the LAST one.

THIS Mamiya ENLAHEAD (model 5) was a big change from the previous models, even though it comes with the same Mamiya 25mm f3.5 lens.

The focal length is NOT marked on the lens, and it has a gray plastic body with f-stops from f3.5 through f16.0. Only f3.5, f5.6 and f16.0 are marked on the lens, but there is an intermediate click-stop between each of these settings (presumably f4.5 and f9.5 -- or thereabouts).

This model is easier to use, in some ways, since the f-stops are now marked on the side of the lens -- see pictures.  The lens has a focusing ring, but it rotates in the opposite direction from all of the previous models. The only negative carrier made for this enla-unit was 10x14mm. The unit screws into any Leica-thread (39mm) lens board with a rotating positioning collar at the top.

Here are its features that photographers find very useful in the darkroom:

  • It incorporates dual, f-stop scales -- one on each side of the lens for quicker, easier placement on the enlarger.
  • It also makes for easier f-stop selection on any lensboard with its rotating collar.
  • The fast f3.5 aperture for easier and more accurate focusing -- than slower f4.0 lenses.
  • It has its own condenser built-in -- so a recessed lens board is not needed -- as with many short focal length enlarging lenses.
  • It's 39mm Leica thread means it can be used on just about ANY enlarger!

As an enlarging lens, it is designed for the 10x14mm subminiature format of many 16mm cameras from Mamiya and others, such as Minolta, Steky, Rollei, Yashica -- too many to list here.

It can also be used on other 16mm film formats, such as the Kiev 13x17mm format, and the Minolta 12x17mm format -- but the image will be cropped slightly.

It can also be used on the 110 film format of 13x17 -- but the image will be cropped slightly.

It can even be used on the 17.5mm film (HIT-type) format of 14x14 because the film carrier is 17.4mm wide (so the film needs to be trimmed slightly) -- and the image will be cropped slightly.

It can even be used on the 9.2mm film (MINOX-type) format of 8x11 -- but a film mask must be used (not included).

This ENLAHEAD has been used -- but you would never know it.  I checked it out for cleanliness and complete operation.  It looks and acts perfectly.

The glass is like new -- no dust, fungus, separation, scratches, etc.  Please examine the pictures for more detail. No scratches or corrosion of any sort on the body.  The f-stop ring turns like new.  No oil on the diaphragm.  The detents are perfect and snap into place easily in the dark.   Focusing is perfect.

It does NOT come with a lensboard, or a jam nut / locking ring.  You'll need to determine what you need for your enlarger -- maybe you already have what you need.

The lens comes with it's original box -- in great shape -- with a COPY of the original instruction sheet.
