Genuine, authentic, original hand signed War Willrich portrait print of Luftwaffe Oberst Johannes Steinhoff.

Steinhoff was a highly decorated German Air Force Flying Fighter and Wing Commander during WW2.

Steinhoff was one of the highest ranking Fighter Aces of the Luftwaffe during WW2, and credited with 176 aerial victories in flying combat from the Invasion of Poland to the Defense of the Reich and Battle of Berlin.  Steinhoff was also commander of several Luftwaffe wing commands including: JG 52, 77 and 7 and one of the first to fly the ME 262 German jet fighter, and after the War became Inspector of the Bundes Luftwaffe.

Because of his military successes, he was awarded the Luftwaffe Front Flying Clasp in Gold, the Luftwaffe Honour Goblet, the French Legion D'Honour, the German Federal Cross of Merit with Star and the Iron Cross First and Second Class.

Because of his extreme bravery and successful military leadership in combat, Steinhoff was awarded the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords...one of only 147 soldiers to be so honored during the War!

The postcard size full color War vintage Wolfgang Willrich portrait print shows Steinhoff in his Luftwaffe pilots uniform and he has signed his signature in black fountain pen ink.  The reverse side has faint collectors album residue(can barely be seen), otherwise in very good condition.  I purchased this from the Becker Collection sometime ago.  Along with a modern, internet, unsigned color print of Steinhoff wearing his Knights Cross with Swords.  Total: 2 items
