This antique map depicts the Gravesend area of Brooklyn, including Coney Island, dating back to around 1870. Compiled from old and musty records, maps and surveys. It features a pictorial or bird's eye view format and was created by Catherine & Theodore Nelson in 1943. It was published by Clark Realty located on Avenue U. The map is an original, not a reproduction, and is in excellent vintage condition. It provides a fascinating glimpse into the past of this iconic New York area.

There seems to be only 4 other examples of this map and they are all in institutions. You can see one similar to this on the site of Brooklyn History in the Brooklyn Public Library. This one was issued as a folded pictorial map in black and white on paper measuring 17 x 22 inches. A very clean original. This map is in fine condition considering its age. It comes from my family Gravesend home closed to the location of Clark Realty.
