Commemorative 1 Piso Coin to celebrate the 150th Birth Anniversary of General Artemio Ricarte. 

Known under the pseudonym Vibora (Viper) teacher, revolutionary patriot, Artemio was born in Batac, Ilocos Norte on October 20,1866. He studied at San Juan De Letran and graduated at the Escuela Normal in 1890. 

He became the Brigadier General of the Magdiwang Council and elected Captain at the Tejeros Convention in Cavite. Captured by the Americans in 1900, he was exiled to Guam in 1901. He refused to recognize American rule and lived in Japan until the start of the War in the Pacific in 1941. 

He died in Nagparaon, Kalinga (now part of Hungduan, Ifugao) in July 31, 1945. 

This coin was minted by the Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas. It is still in it's mint issued card & holder.
