Item Condition: We are offering for sale a really pretty L. E. Smith miniature "Spike" powder jar. This pretty powder box is in Undamaged (like new) Condition without chips, cracks, or mold damage. Jars Green Spike Powder Jar Lid LDlike this were filled with powder and then sold. After the powder was gone they could be re-filled, or used as jewelry or trinket boxes. This powder jar was made in the late 1920s.

"Spike" Bulldog Power Jar (late 1920s early 1930s)
This 4.5" diameter powder jar has a standing bulldog finial. This bulldog, affectionately called "Spike" by collectors, is wearing a spiked collar. It was made by the L. E. Smith Glass Company of Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania Both the top and bottom of the jar have an embossed vertical ribbed design. Colors of this box include pink satin and green satin. The shade of the pink satin

 jar will sometimes run almost a deep purple.
This style of powder jar may also be found with a miniature sitting cat, standing elephant or standing terrier finial.
