Edge ware, Surface ware, insect holes, foxing.  These are all realities of storage, transporation and handling.  Many times the eageware of a poster can be hidden by proper matting and framing.  Is a perfect poster more valuable than a damaged poster,  I think we all know the answer to that question, but there is also an issue of Supply and Demand,  if the only poster available is damaged, it may still be a meaningful addition to your collection.  Many stamp and coin collectors will continually up grade their collection.  Selling or trading.
