Offered here is a Korean War (Cold War) M1 Garand self loading rifle knife bayonet. This also comes with a scabbard. These are clones of the M5A1 bayonet but not made as well. The grip scales on these are thinner and more prone to cracking. Under the MAP (Military Assistance Program, the US provided approximately 348,814 M1 Garand rifles and approximately 41,176 bayonets to Korea from 1951 to 1972. Clones were then produced in Korea, this is the clone. 

Overall, this bayonet is in Very Good - Very Good Plus condition. The press catch is functional with stiff spring tension. The action is a little sticky. Both the pommel and guard are securely fastened to the tang. They have light handling marks and scuffs. The screws securely fastens the two (2) grip panels. The screws have strong slots. The grips have light handling marks and scuffs, but no notable damage. 

The spine and sides have light handling marks and scuffs, but no notable damage. The blade has a few small nicks and dings, and it appears to have its original factory edge. The tip is intact and comes to a dull straight point. Most of the finish is intact. 

The top of the guard facing the blade is marked "D.Y.W.", "K-M5A1" and either a proof mark or a manufacturer marking.   

The scabbard is in Very Good - Very Good Plus condition. The M1910 belt hanger retains its original shape and is functional. The webbed belt loop is functional. There are no rips or tears and the stitching is sewn tightly. The retaining strap is intact and the snap is functional and is slightly tarnished. It is securely attached to the metal mouth of the locket. The locket has oxidized and has small scrapes. The body has light scrapes and draglines. The finish is mostly intact.

The markings are hard to read, but they can be read at an angle "USM8A1".
