Clark Guettel was a celebrated and is a collected glassblower, who won awards from Consumer's Glass in 1972 and from the Ontario Crafts Council in 1985 and 1988. His hand-blown work includes perfume bottles, bowls, jugs and vases. He immigrated to Canada (from New Jersey) in the 1960s and went to OCAD and Sheridan college for design. By 1971 he spend the summer teaching crafts in the Ottawa Valley and he liked it so much that by 1974, he decided to buy an old school in Rockingham, renovate it, and start a crafts school, while creating his own glass blowing work. He was also a celebrated musician who fronted various rock bands like Clark and the Sharks and Wilno Express. Unfortunately, at the age of 61, Clark lost his battle with cancer in early 2011.
