Description:
Oil on canvas. Signed Emil Preuss for Emil Preuss (1866-1950). A listed German salon painter. The oil dates back to the late 19th century ( 1890-1900). Large antique optical illusion oil with a young woman luring the viewer to join her, while a secondary female figure is in background partially obstructed by curtains. A fine antique trompe l’oeil work and a collectors dream. A certificate of authenticity will be included with this work.
Condition:
In good condition with no holes, tears or missing paint. The canvas has been relined. The surface could use a light cleaning and new layer of varnish, due to the old age. Otherwise fine. The golden ornamented salon frame has minor scratches due to the age.
