Top quality, you can feel the difference. I got them a few years back as “refurbished”. That’s concerning the gold highlights (replaced spokes that never gave me any trouble) on the rear wheel. I know you will find these wheels to be as round, true, smooth, and like new but refurbished as any other set this good.
They were so superior and expensive that I immediately bought another wheelset and hung these up to “save” them and that’s the truth. Now I’m too old for them. Oh well.
It’s important to obtain the appropriate brake pads to use with these wheels with no exceptions. That way the condition of the wheels very closely approximates new ones. I hope you can tell by the pictures. They are in very good condition. I included a full set of brand new pads for Shimano/SRAM.(see the actual photo of them)
Mavic's highest performance wheel designs
Mavic has managed to keep weight to a minimum through the use of hollow carbon-fiber spokes, which also provide lateral stiffness of the highest order. Furthermore, they feature "isopulse lacing" for tension balance.
The rims feature ISM 4D - 4 dimensional inter spoke milling, are made of proprietary "Maxtal alloy", are stronger than 6106 alloys, and are arc welded using an "S.U.P." process. Zicral aluminum for the aluminum spokes all with no drawbacks or limitations.
Flawless bearings and freewheel provide the lowest friction.
The "Tracomp technology" used in the spoke design helps with compression and adds to the wheel's compliance – the 15mm rim width lends itself to a much narrower tire than UST-equipped versions.
Recommended tire sizes: 19 to 32 mm
The rims feature a machined surface – dubbed Exalith – for increased friction, which Mavic says improves stopping distance by 20 percent in both wet and dry conditions.
The relative weight of these wheels is quoted as 1355 grams compared to other aluminum wheels yet they are incredibly stiff and strong.
