Description

1970 Plymouth 'Cuda 340 Hardtop
Listed on behalf of the owner.Located near PORTLAND, OREGON.

One owner since 1970!
Built October 7, 1969 at the Los Angeles Plymouth plant and delivered by Alexander Chrysler-Plymouth in Portland, Oregon on October 17, 1969. Shortly after purchase, the original owner sold it to his friend who bought it early in 1970. He was married soon after buying it, and the young couple used this car as their daily-driver up until approximately 1978. At that time, with approximately 84,000 miles on the odometer, this 'Cuda was parked in the family garage where it remained for the next 45 years.

Recently, the car was removed from the garage and mechanically refreshed, including: new belts, hoses, spark plugs, wires, tune-up, alternator service, radiator flush and new pressure cap, full brake system rebuild including new drums, shoes, hoses, wheel cylinders and master cylinder. (Replaced parts are in the trunk.) This 'Cuda wears original Plymouth "In-Violet Metallic" color paint, which shows small areas of wear, scratches and chips from storage. Overall, the body is straight with excellent panel fit and no major dents or damage. NO RUST. PLEASE SEE PHOTOS WHICH SHOW CURRENT CONDITION.

We have very lightly polished the paint which benefitted from the attention. A paint correction professional could likely fully detail the car and bring up the paint finish even more. The white grained vinyl top is also original to the car, has been cleaned and is in excellent condition. No rips, bubbling or lifting. Original chrome and trim in very good condition. The interior is completely original, except for the front seats which were recently recovered in correct style black vinyl. Original rear seats, door panels, carpet, headliner and dashboard. Plastic trim and woodgraining is in very good original condition. Interior would benefit from a comprehensive detailing. All glass is original and in excellent condition. Door windows and rear quarter windows operate easily. Front seat belts with shoulder harnesses. Rallye instrument cluster with 150 mph speedometer. Gauges all work and register accurately. Clock does not work. Heater/defroster and blower work. All lights work. Working AM/FM/ stereo radio with vintage 4-track tape player! Trunk holds original spare wheel/tire, jack, and an assortment of spare/replaced parts.

The original 340 cubic inch / 275 horsepower V8 engine runs well with a throaty sound. No smoke or issues. Smooth idling with excellent acceleration and yes, it's FAST. 4-barrel high-performance carburetor. A727 3-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly. Factory performance package with 26" radiator and 7-blade torque drive fan with shroud. Runs cool. Hemi suspension and handling package. 3.55:1 rear-end ratio in an 8-3/4 Axle with Sure Grip. Undercarriage is original, clean and RUST FREE THROUGHOUT. I have personally driven this car and it runs and stops well. If contemplating extended driving or regular use, we would suggest full service by a qualified mechanic familiar with vintage 'Cudas to prepare it for the road. The Crager 5-spoke mag wheels are wrapped by older tires that should likely be replaced for regular use. This is a true time capsule that would be welcome in preservation-class showing or to be enjoyed on the road for miles to come. Fully documented with original window sticker, bill of sale and purchase documents, decoded fender tag showing original equipment that is still on the car, and more. Truly a once-in-a-lifetime 'Cuda!
