Genuine, authentic, original hand signed photograph and letter signed of Waffen SS Oberstrumbannfuhrer Otto Weidinger.

Weidinger was a highly decorated German Elite Forces tank regiment commander during WW2.

Weidinger was known as Commander of the 4th Waffen SS Panzergrenadier Regiment "Der Fuhrer" with the Waffen SS 2nd Panzer Division "Das Reich" particularly during the heavy fighting after D Day in the Battle of Normandy and later the Battle of the Buldge and still later against British General Montgomery in the Battle of the Falaise Pocket, and his final operation was covering the evacuation of "Volksdeutsche" from Prague in 1945.

Because of his military service, Weidinger was awarded the German Cross in Gold, the Close Combat Clasp in Bronze, the Infantry Assault Badge in Silver, One Tank Destruction Badge for Individual Combatants, the Wound Badge in Silver and the Iron Cross First and Second Class.

Weidinger was awarded the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords...one of only 147 soldiers to receive this high honor during the War!

The 3.5 x 5 inch glossy black and white photograph shows Weidinger in his Waffen SS uniform wearing his Knights Cross and he has signed his full name signature below his image in blue ballpoint ink pen, postwar.  Along with a one page, oblong 4 x 6 inch oblong white card wit his personal name and address printed letterhead, Aalen, December 9 1980, friendly letter sending the signed foto, and boldly signed at conclusion in blue ballpoint ink pen, postwar.  The signed foto is in very good condition, and the signed letter has normal age tone and file holes, otherwise in very good condition.  I purchased these from Todd Mueller Autograph Auctions last year.  Along with a modern, internet, unsigned print of the the Waffen SS Das Reich Panzer Division at Normandy.  Total: 3 items
