This auction is for a Vintage Schaper Pre Stompers 1978 Max Machine Custom Chevy/ Ford Van. This remote control was produced by Schaper in 1978, has a very strong resemblance of a 1970’s Custom Chevy / Ford Van. Overall it’s still in decent condition considering its age, most of its decals are intact &it’s still very bright in color. The battery compartment is very clean. The van is missing its small black plastic antenna which is pretty common to be gone on these. It’s also missing the rear taillight tab & orange decal, the front windshield silver decal, the rear left window silver decal and mid- side black stripe decal. The decals are easily replaceable. I’ve seen the individual decals and full decal sheets sold on EBay as well as repop decals in the past as well as the remote for replacement, so shouldn’t be too difficult to complete it out. I no longer have the CB looking remote, so I can’t really test it. This item is being sold as is. It has had much love over the years and I do remember as a kid, this having a the `Telesonic Remote Control’ that made a clicking sound which would turn the vehicles tires or change direction to go left, right & straight ahead, based on the sound activated. It had a tight turn radius of 1 ft when circling, so it could be played with in small quarters or outside in the driveway. It has an on off orange flip switch on the rear base of the vehicle. You would flip it on while holding it, put it down on the ground and click the Telesonic Remote to chose your direction. There were 2 different versions made of this van in the late 70’s: yellow Max Machine & the Nighthawk being black w red & black decals but I’m told less of the yellow Max Machine were produced. This remote van measures out at 7’’ L x 5.75’’ T x 5’’ W from front fender to fender. This van predates the Shaper Stompers 4x4 series which were produced towards the very early 80’s.
