SASS EMPORIA are delighted to offer this small but impressive multi-glazed ceramic vase produced by Bay Keramik of Germany. Based in the town of Ransbach, the family operated pottery was founded by Eduard Bay in 1933 where it grew to become one of the 'big-four' (Bay, Carstens, Scheurich and Ruscha) high-volume producing West German manufacturers over the three decades from the 1950's to the 1970's. In this example we see the classic tapered teardrop form 657-14, most likely produced in the late 1960's. Its upper section is coated in a lusterous gloss red glaze with remainder contrast with a matte charcoal base overglazed with white bubbling lava. A great offering from Bay that would be right at home in any fat lava display!
